There was drama on the MAX platform heading the other direction. I sat on the To Portland/Gresham side, and they were on the To Hillsboro side.
When I first looked up, she was sitting on the bench with her head down. He was about 15 meters away, kneeling against the curb with his head down as well. I didn't know they were interacting; I thought he was praying. Strange thing to do at 11:43 pm in Beaverton, and anyway, is Mecca in that direction?
But then he got up and stalked toward the bench where the woman was seated and nearly shouted, "I'm not lying!" Their words were muffled by distance. And I was not trying to eavesdrop.
Then the train showed up and whisked them away. |

And speaking of violence, I saw The Terminator for the first time last night. I liked it. And not just because of Naked Arnold.
It was your standard horror concept. A monster movie with a creative sci-fi twist (and lots of laser beams, whee).
It had a feeling of unfinished business. I liked that, it was like, "Well, there's nothing we can do because the world is going to burn sometime soon and we just need to resign ourselves to our fate." But it seems the next couple of movies might invalidate that feeling, or at least mutate it a bit.
One of the fellas I watched it with said "They're thinking about making a fourth movie." I don't know whether to say "Oh dear," or "That could be cool." Probably would pick up where the third one left off, time for a waaaarrrrrr....!!!!
Anyway. |

It was relaxing, we stayed at Hebo Lake, which is about 20 miles south of Tillamook. We got there Thursday at something like 1am (so I guess that makes it Friday) and were shown our spot to put up a tent and crashed out. The next day we hung around for a few hours, hung out with Galen and Jamie and Galen's parents and their dogs Sasha and ... er ... (Digweed? No, wait, it's) Zoey. And then Cannon and I went to the beach at Pacific City. Cape Kiwanis or something like that. It was lots of fun. We ran (crawled) up a sand dune and then ran (fell) back down.
Saturday we relaxed, mostly stayed at the campsite playing "In The Labyrinth" (an RPG from 1980) with Galen and Jamie and Galen's dad Terry. First RPG that Joe ever played and he seemed to enjoy it.
Sunday we made some yummy eggs for breakfast, then packed up our stuff and then ALL of us went back to Cape Kiwanis, and Cannon and Galen and I went back up that dune again. On the way up Cannon faceplanted. It was quite amazing, but he wasn't hurt; he was laughing about it. When we got back down to the beach, Galen and I jumped into the water with all of our clothes on. It was pretty darn cold! We couldn't convince Cannon to join us, the silly puppy. ;) Then we all ate at some restaraunt on the beach and we had delicious fish 'n' chips, and beer, and dessert, and an appetizer. It was expensive but a nice festive way to end a relaxing weekend. I want to go camping again at some point :) |

Also last night I fell asleep wearing a shirt that has a texture and was lying on my front so my bruise got squooshed up against the shirt. When I woke up, the purple/red stuff had taken up the pattern of my shirt. W00t! I should go for tartan next time. |

Still hurts, but only when bending or twisting or leaning. If I walk slowly and stand upright it's fine.
What are the best foods to eat to help your body heal itself faster? I know you take echinacea (or however you spell that) to boost the immune system, but is it protein and potassium for bruises and scrapes? Think I'll poke around WebMD or something.
EDIT: Bruises just need warmth to speed bloodflow away from the area. Hmm. Maybe I can go buy a washcloth at WinCo during lunch. |

Also hung out with and talked to family. Talked about the car whackage with all of them, they had their own bike crash stories to tell, it was all very illuminating.
Aaaaaaaand then we left cause being up until 3 last night from post crash details had made us sleepy. But not without some cookies. /licks his chops/ |

| | infuriated | ] | So, what's new with me... hmm. let's think. Oh, right, I remember.
I got hit by a car last night.
I was riding my bike down SE Ankeny at 1am, looking forward to meeting with Cannon downtown (having spent the last few hours beating my head against my stupid math class). I didn't want to arrive all out of breath and sweaty so I took it at a slow leisurely pace. From about 18th Ave to 13th going west, Ankeny has speed bumps, and as I was coasting along downhill a vehicle took up something close to my pace.
My thought was that they were just going slow on all the speedbumps and I left plenty of room for them to pass me, but just after the intersection of Ankeny St and 14th Ave, I saw their headlights turn toward me; they swerved and touched their car to my bike, which of course made me crash.
I was absolutely dumbstruck, fumbling on the ground with my bike, and I looked up at their vehicle to see a passenger with a stupid expression on his face. Was it a look of shock? Was he jeering? He kinda muttered, "Oh, oh." The car slowed just a bit while he gaped at me, then it drove off. I shouted in fury, "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT FOR?!"

Hey, I think there's a car I'd like to own.
Medium-sized image behind ( cut ) Yeah, I'll take one. It appeals to my classy side. /brushes fingernails on lapel/ But it's also quirky enough to not be a normal utilicar.
Unfortunately, I betcha I'd need to be anal about keeping it serviced; something I wasn't so good at with previous vehicles. Poor Volvo. Poor Chevy. You both deserved better.
... still kinda holding out for a squareback too ;) |
