a moment.

There was drama on the MAX platform heading the other direction. I sat on the To Portland/Gresham side, and they were on the To Hillsboro side.

When I first looked up, she was sitting on the bench with her head down. He was about 15 meters away, kneeling against the curb with his head down as well. I didn't know they were interacting; I thought he was praying. Strange thing to do at 11:43 pm in Beaverton, and anyway, is Mecca in that direction?

But then he got up and stalked toward the bench where the woman was seated and nearly shouted, "I'm not lying!" Their words were muffled by distance. And I was not trying to eavesdrop.

Then the train showed up and whisked them away.

Movie.

And speaking of violence, I saw The Terminator for the first time last night. I liked it. And not just because of Naked Arnold.

It was your standard horror concept. A monster movie with a creative sci-fi twist (and lots of laser beams, whee).

It had a feeling of unfinished business. I liked that, it was like, "Well, there's nothing we can do because the world is going to burn sometime soon and we just need to resign ourselves to our fate."
But it seems the next couple of movies might invalidate that feeling, or at least mutate it a bit.

One of the fellas I watched it with said "They're thinking about making a fourth movie." I don't know whether to say "Oh dear," or "That could be cool." Probably would pick up where the third one left off, time for a waaaarrrrrr....!!!!

Anyway.

Dramatic, again!

Continuing from this post, here's some more Dramatic Financial Battle.

TYBER WANDERS BACK INTO THE BUILDING ACCOMPANIED BY THE COUNTER FLOATING
OVER HIS HEAD
TYBER: It's time.
COUNTER: The time? Why, you've got 0 months, 19 days, 17 hours, 2 minutes
and 4 seconds. Are you nearly ready for your class change?
TYBER: Oh, I'm ready.
COUNTER: That's peachy. Because, remember, if you fail to prepare you're
*DOOMed when I reach zero.
TYBER: Yes.
COUNTER: Did you like my tidy recap?
TYBER: ...
COUNTER: Not very talkative today.
TYBER: ...
COUNTER: Well, fine. For an anthropromorpic line of text floating a
couple of feet over someone's head, there's only so much you can do
before boredom sets in.
TYBER: ...
COUNTER: And you, you great lump, you just stand there and act all deep
and defiant. Can't you crack a smile? I'm proud of your progress lately,
but you know very well that I'm just doing my job and if I'm forced to
*DOOM you, I'll feel no remorse.
TYBER: You're guilty, aren't you?
COUNTER: ...
TYBER: Aren't you?
COUNTER: Maybe a little.
TYBER: Don't worry, COUNTER. I don't intend to fail.
COUNTER: Ooooooooo, someone's trying to be all badass.
TYBER GLARES AT THE COUNTER
COUNTER: Let's just see if you have a reason to be badass.
TYBER ADOPTS AN AIR OF DETERMINATION
TYBER PERFORMS A SUMMONING GESTURE
WELLS FARGO APPEARS
WELLS FARGO USES *FEAR OF REPRISAL
TYBER IS UNAFFECTED
WELLS FARGO USES *SHEER NUMBERS
TYBER IS UNAFFECTED
WELLS FARGO: Your minimum automatic payment, scheduled for September
19th, is thirty-nine dollars. Do you wish to know your card balance?
TYBER: Oh, I know what it is. I've known it for months. I've secretly
trained in the dinosaur forest with the large experience bonuses. At first
I would bring all my friends for fear of getting knocked out, but then I
started taking fewer and fewer of them, until now I can best a T-REX on my
own for the larger EXP payout. What's more I have the ETMOR SWARD, which I
know for a fact you're weak against. Your time has come, WELLS FARGO!
WELLS FARGO: We're sorry, your response must be in the form of "yes" or
"no". Please try again.
TYBER: Ha! Your tactics are futile! I won't be stopped by a phone tree.
Take this!
TYBER USES *PRESS ZERO FOR AN OPERATOR
WELLS FARGO'S APPEARANCE CHANGES TO A GIANT UNCARING CORPORATE ENTITY.
THE WIND HOWLS UNFORGIVINGLY.
COUNTER: Oh dear, you've made it mad now!
TYBER: Not as mad as it's going to be when I do this!
TYBER EQUIPS ETMOR SWARD. THE SWARD IS AS TALL AS THE SCREEN BUT TYBER
HANDLES IT DEFTLY, DESPITE THE OBVIOUS IMPOSSIBILE PHYSICS
COUNTER: (Isn't that a typo?)
TYBER: (No, it's an intentional misspelling to avoid a copyright suit.
But leave me alone, I'm busy.)
COUNTER: Hmph.
WELLS FARGO THUNDERS AND QUAKES IN OPRESSIVE DOMINANCE
WELLS FARGO: Your misspelling can't harm us, we have you by the throat.
You squirm at our mention. Just try to get rid of us, puny mortal!
WELLS FARGO USES *DOUBT OF AEGIS
TYBER'S RESTRAINTS TIGHTEN
ETMOR SWARD SHRINKS A LITTLE
TYBER: Hey, that's cheating!
WELLS FARGO: We own you, little thing. We've been your masters since
the days of old, before we had assimilated FIRST INTERSTATE! One false
move and we'll bury you in unfounded overdrafts. Now get back in line
along with the rest of our valued customers.
TYBER: No! I refuse! Your tyranny must end!
TYBER RUNS ACROSS THE SCREEN AND PLUNGES THE ETMOR SWARD INTO WELLS
FARGO'S CORE.
TYBER LOSES 1395 GIL
THE BACKGROUND MUSIC HALTS AND THERE'S THE SOUND OF THUNDER. ENERGY SWIRLS
IN A CACAPHONY OF LIGHT. LIGHTNING COURSES THROUGH THE WEAPON WHICH STABS
INTO THE HEART OF HIS FOE, AND TYBER RUNS FOR COVER.
WELLS FARGO: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!
WELLS FARGO IS DEFEATED, AND THE ENSUING PYROTECHNICS BANG ON FOR A FEW
MINUTES. TYBER PREPARES FOR HIS VICTORY THEME, BUT...
WELLS FARGO HAS SOMEHOW SURVIVED!
TYBER: What's this?
TYBER PICKS UP A LITTLE BOX WITH A LITTLE PICTURE OF A LITTLE STAGECOACH
ON IT
WELLS FARGO: Please, please, don't hurt us. We'll do anything you want.
Need a loan? Need a credit check? How about rewards with the use of your
debit card? You like that debit card, you use it almost every day!
Please... just let us live!
TYBER PONDERS
COUNTER: I dunno man, just a minute ago this guy was threatening to dump
a bunch of fees on you for no good reason. Can you really trust him?
TYBER: About as much as I can trust you.
COUNTER: Hey, now that's not fair! I'm just doing my job, remember? I'd
like to think I've become more than the sum of my parts since I started
counting down 5 months, 5 days, X hours, X minutes and X seconds ago, eh?
TYBER: Right, you're just doing your job.
COUNTER: Exactly. Sheesh, I'm glad you finally see it my way, meathead.
TYBER: -just like WELLS FARGO, here.
COUNTER: Ri- hey, what?
TYBER IS ACCOMPANIED BY "A LESSON TO LEARN" MUSIC
TYBER: We expect a lot out of our banks, and we place a lot of
responsibility into them. I'm sure they can't help getting a little
megalomaniacal now and then. If you can keep it under control, a helpful
credit card or line of credit or school loan won't kill you.
WELLS FARGO: Did you say school loan? We can do that! And now that your
credit card balance is so close to zero it'll be a lot easier to obtain
one. We can help you.
TYBER: It's tempting.
WELLS FARGO: Come on, TYBER. We've known each other since our names were
different, you and us both.
TYBER: Okay, it's a deal.
WELLS FARGO JOINS THE PARTY
TYBER: Now, about that school loan, I'm about to have a class change-
COUNTER: In 0 months, 19 days, 16 hours, 33 minutes, and 12 seconds.
TYBER: -and I'm a little bit concerned that I won't be able to afford it.
WELLS FARGO: Oh yes, this is an exciting time. (Just you wait, TYBER.
We'll see to it you're well taken care of. Muhuhahaha.)
TO BE CONTINUED...

In other news, I'm nearly there. It's exciting. It's also a little scary. :)

Camping.

It was relaxing, we stayed at Hebo Lake, which is about 20 miles south of Tillamook. We got there Thursday at something like 1am (so I guess that makes it Friday) and were shown our spot to put up a tent and crashed out.

The next day we hung around for a few hours, hung out with Galen and Jamie and Galen's parents and their dogs Sasha and ... er ... (Digweed? No, wait, it's) Zoey.
And then Cannon and I went to the beach at Pacific City. Cape Kiwanis or something like that. It was lots of fun. We ran (crawled) up a sand dune and then ran (fell) back down.

Saturday we relaxed, mostly stayed at the campsite playing "In The Labyrinth" (an RPG from 1980) with Galen and Jamie and Galen's dad Terry. First RPG that Joe ever played and he seemed to enjoy it.

Sunday we made some yummy eggs for breakfast, then packed up our stuff and then ALL of us went back to Cape Kiwanis, and Cannon and Galen and I went back up that dune again. On the way up Cannon faceplanted. It was quite amazing, but he wasn't hurt; he was laughing about it.
When we got back down to the beach, Galen and I jumped into the water with all of our clothes on. It was pretty darn cold! We couldn't convince Cannon to join us, the silly puppy. ;)
Then we all ate at some restaraunt on the beach and we had delicious fish 'n' chips, and beer, and dessert, and an appetizer. It was expensive but a nice festive way to end a relaxing weekend. I want to go camping again at some point :)

Bruise again.

Took my bike in to the shop yesterday. They estimated it would be fixed by Tuesday and it would cost $45. But I got a call this morning and they said it's ready now and it's just $32. So far, I like City Bikes.

Also last night I fell asleep wearing a shirt that has a texture and was lying on my front so my bruise got squooshed up against the shirt. When I woke up, the purple/red stuff had taken up the pattern of my shirt. W00t! I should go for tartan next time.

My bruise.

Wowee, I'm making some pretty awesome colors. Mostly blue purple and red, but I can see a little bit of brown and yellow starting to seep in..

Still hurts, but only when bending or twisting or leaning. If I walk slowly and stand upright it's fine.

What are the best foods to eat to help your body heal itself faster? I know you take echinacea (or however you spell that) to boost the immune system, but is it protein and potassium for bruises and scrapes? Think I'll poke around WebMD or something.

EDIT: Bruises just need warmth to speed bloodflow away from the area. Hmm. Maybe I can go buy a washcloth at WinCo during lunch.

Yummy.

I went to dinner at Mom's last night, it was delicious. There was chicken, which is always yummy, and corn on the cob, and potato salad, artichoke dip, and BEER. Delicious scrumptious beer.

Also hung out with and talked to family.
Talked about the car whackage with all of them, they had their own bike crash stories to tell, it was all very illuminating.

Aaaaaaaand then we left cause being up until 3 last night from post crash details had made us sleepy. But not without some cookies. /licks his chops/

Thwack.

So, what's new with me... hmm. let's think. Oh, right, I remember.

I got hit by a car last night.

I was riding my bike down SE Ankeny at 1am, looking forward to meeting with Cannon downtown (having spent the last few hours beating my head against my stupid math class). I didn't want to arrive all out of breath and sweaty so I took it at a slow leisurely pace. From about 18th Ave to 13th going west, Ankeny has speed bumps, and as I was coasting along downhill a vehicle took up something close to my pace.

My thought was that they were just going slow on all the speedbumps and I left plenty of room for them to pass me, but just after the intersection of Ankeny St and 14th Ave, I saw their headlights turn toward me; they swerved and touched their car to my bike, which of course made me crash.

I was absolutely dumbstruck, fumbling on the ground with my bike, and I looked up at their vehicle to see a passenger with a stupid expression on his face. Was it a look of shock? Was he jeering? He kinda muttered, "Oh, oh." The car slowed just a bit while he gaped at me, then it drove off. I shouted in fury, "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT FOR?!"

I didn't have the presence of mind to get the license plate number... I was just completely overwhelmed with the experience of being hit and run, and on purpose too. They matched my pace, they nudged me off my bike, then they took off. The assholes.

So I sat on a treeroot off the curb and collected myself. A pedestrian who was further up the street stopped and asked if I was okay. I was quite clearly upset and told him they must have done it on purpose.. he was at a loss, apologized for not getting their license plate number, and humbly resumed his walk up the street.

I called Cannon and he headed over to fetch me in his car. My bike was damaged, the rims bent enough so that the wheels will not spin very well, and the front tire is deflated. While I was waiting for Cannon, I called home and got Bennet out of bed with my ranting. He gave me some advice to take care of my wounds.

We called the police and made a report, but it was non-emergency and since I didn't get the license plate number there's probably not much that can be done.

I must have been in some kind of shock because upon drinking some water and taking some advil I lost my dinner. o_o;

But anyway, now I'm taking it slow. I've got some bruises in my side, some road rash there too, some scratches on the palms of my hands. I'll get better, I'll get my bike fixed, and I'll start riding again. But for now it's ow. ow ow ow.

The assholes. :P

Hey, I think there's a car I'd like to own.

Medium-sized image behind cut.

Mercedes-Benz 280SL

Yeah, I'll take one. It appeals to my classy side. /brushes fingernails on lapel/
But it's also quirky enough to not be a normal utilicar.

Unfortunately, I betcha I'd need to be anal about keeping it serviced; something I wasn't so good at with previous vehicles. Poor Volvo. Poor Chevy. You both deserved better.

... still kinda holding out for a squareback too ;)
